Investment in education

Acting in an entrepreneurial manner is about taking responsibility. We want to give young people educational opportunities in the places where we work.

Training as part of our corporate philosophy

In Germany we can put this claim into practice relatively easily: by providing training. Each year, two young people have the opportunity to train to become qualified bankers with us.

In Latin America, it is not quite so simple. Nonetheless, we have entered into a collaboration agreement with the Catholic University of Honduras, which enables 2 students to spend a term in our bank three times a year. The Catholic University is a special university: it educates its country's future leaders. Its goal is to train managers who have integrity and an awareness of their responsibilities. Catholic social teaching, business ethics and political education are all compulsory subjects. This internship abroad complements their specialist training in situ by giving them an insight into a new culture, including the financial and social system in Germany.

The exchange concept goes further...

Various microfinance organisations with whom we have a business relationship have enquired whether we could provide interns. The internships should be at least 3 months long.

Preconditions for an internship abroad are a knowledge of Spanish, but above all the desire and the ability to expand one's own horizons, to seize opportunities and to become immersed in a foreign culture.

The aim of this cooperation is to increase mutual understanding. It is only by getting to know something that you can understand it; and it is only then that you can make changes.
